DrillFlo Tutorial #1 – Create Your First Marching Band Drill Design
This video walks you through creating your first drill in DrillFlo. Here’s what it covers.
Create a new design
Section titled “Create a new design”From the DrillFlo dashboard, click New Design. The field editor opens with the field, a mode panel, the drill timeline, and the main toolbar.
For the current steps, see Starting a new drill document.
Add performers
Section titled “Add performers”Click Performers in the top toolbar. You can add several performers at once by setting a quantity and a label.
Set up the field
Section titled “Set up the field”Click Project, then Field Settings. Adjust settings like hash marks to match your field.
Build the opening set
Section titled “Build the opening set”- Selection mode: Select and move performers on the field. Turn it on from the left panel or press 2.
- Rotate: Turn selected performers to the angle you want.
- Snap to Grid: Turn it on to lock movement to set steps, or off to move freely.
- Spacing: When performers are selected, use the spacing tool to space them evenly.
Add movement and timing
Section titled “Add movement and timing”- New page: Click Add Page to add a page to the timeline.
- Counts and tempo: Set the counts and tempo for the page with the tools at the top of the screen.
- Move performers: Move performers to their new spots. Use the alignment and spacing tools to clean up forms.
- Movement arrows: Turn on Show Movement Arrows in the right-hand menu to see each performer’s path and spot collisions.
Play it back
Section titled “Play it back”Click a starting point in the timeline, then click play or press Space.
