Adjusting field settings for indoor

If you’re writing for an indoor floor, like a WGI color guard, percussion, or winds show, you can match DrillFlo’s floor to the one your ensemble performs on. Here’s how.

  1. Open Field Settings. In the menu bar, click Project, then click Field Settings.

  2. Choose your floor. Under Venue, set Floor / venue type to one of the indoor floors:

    • Indoor — WGI World (90×60 ft)
    • Indoor — WGI A (70×50 ft)
    • Indoor — Basketball (84×50 ft)
    • Indoor — custom size

The badge in the top corner of the window changes to Indoor mode.

  3. Set a custom size (optional). If you chose Indoor — custom size, enter the Width (ft) and Depth (ft) of your floor. Each can be from 10 to 200 feet. A new custom floor starts at 90 by 60 feet.

  4. Choose your markings. Under Indoor markings, check Center mark to show a mark at the center of the floor, and check 5-foot grid lines to show a grid every 5 feet.

  5. Add a floor image (optional). To see your floor design under your performers, go to Floor background image and click Upload image, then choose an image file. Or, under Floor image library, search for a shared floor and click Use image next to it. To take an image off, click Remove image.

  6. Adjust how the image looks. Under Image rendering, drag Image opacity to make the floor image lighter or darker behind your performers. Use Image fit to choose how the image fills the floor:

    • Center (contain) shows the whole image in the middle of the floor.
    • Stretch stretches the image to fill the floor.
    • Tile / repeat repeats the image across the floor.
  7. Choose a performer symbol. Under Performer display, set Performer symbol style to Dot or Letter.

  8. Close the window. Your changes apply right away. Click Close when you’re done.

  • Quick changes without the window. Switch to Pan mode (press 1) and the right panel shows Indoor markings (Center mark and Step grid) and Floor covering, where you can upload or remove a floor image and change its Opacity.
  • Library images are copied. When you use an image from the library, DrillFlo makes a copy just for this drill, so you won’t change the shared image.
  • Hash marks are outdoor only. On an indoor floor, the hash mark setting is turned off. To go back to a football field, see Adjusting field settings for outdoor.
