Exporting a drill as video

You can save your drill as a video, recorded from the 3D view. It’s a great way to share the show with your ensemble and staff.

  1. Open 3D in a new window. In the menu bar, click the window button next to the 2D / 3D switch (Open 3D in a new window). The 3D view opens in its own window.

  2. Click Export Video. In the 3D window, click Export Video in the top-right corner. The Export Video window opens.

  3. Choose a camera. Under Camera, choose the view to record from, like Press Box. Current camera position records from wherever the camera is right now.

  4. Choose what to record. Under Playback range, choose:

    • Full drill for the whole show.
    • Current page only for just the page you’re on.
    • Page range to record a set of pages.
    • Count range to record from one count to another.
  5. Include your music. If your drill has music, check Include audio to add it to the video.

  6. Choose a quality. Under Quality, choose Standard (720p, 30 fps) or High (1080p, 60 fps). High looks sharper but makes a bigger file.

  7. Choose what shows in the video. Under UI in export, choose:

    • Clean export (recommended) for just the field and performers.
    • Annotated to include performer labels and stride paths, if you’ve turned them on.
  8. Name your file. DrillFlo fills in a Filename for you, with the drill name, range, camera, and date. Change it if you like.

  9. Click Start export. You’ll see “Exporting video…” with a progress bar and the time left. When it’s done, your video downloads.

  • Big file warning. If the video will be very large, you’ll see a Large file size note. Click Continue anyway to export, or Back to pick a lower quality or a shorter range.
  • Use Chrome or Edge. If you see “Video export is not supported in this browser,” try Chrome 110+ or Edge 110+.
  • Export failed? Click Retry. Choosing Standard quality or closing other tabs can help.
  • Some players need WebM. Depending on your browser, the video may be saved in WebM format. Most video players can open it.
  • Collision rings never show in exported videos.
