Creating a follow-the-leader transition

In a follow-the-leader move, performers march single file. The leader walks a path you draw, and everyone else follows the same trail behind them, keeping the spacing they started with.

  • You need at least 2 performers.
  • You need to be on page 2 or later. The move starts from where performers are on the page before.
  • Performers need a spot on the page before.
  1. Go to the page where the move ends. In the timeline, click the page you want performers to end on.

  2. Select your performers. Press 2 for Select mode and select the performers who’ll march the move. Try a line, arc, or other single-file form, so the order is clear.

  3. Click Follow the Leader. Click Follow the Leader on the left toolbar, or in the bar at the bottom of the field. The right panel shows Follow the Leader.

  4. Check the leader. A ring marks the leader, at one end of the line. To lead from the other end, click the ring or click Flip Leader End.

  5. Draw the leader’s path. Click on the field to add a point to the leader’s path. Each click adds a new end point. The rest of the group follows the leader’s trail.

  6. Reshape the path. Drag the green handles to move points on the path. The starting point stays with the leader.

  7. Click Accept. Performers end where the path leaves them on this page, and the move plays back along the trail.

  • Add or remove points. Hold Shift and click near the path to add a point between two others. Hold Shift and click a point to remove it.
  • Change your mind. Click Cancel or press Esc to leave without changing anything.
  • If it won’t start, DrillFlo tells you why. Make sure you’ve selected at least 2 performers, you’re on page 2 or later, and those performers are on the page before.
  • See the move. Play your drill or use the count ruler to watch it. See Navigating pages and playing back a drill.
